As dentists and dental professionals, it’s easy to focus on our patients’ oral health and sometimes forget the timeless and infectious nature of a simple smile. Kudos to our friends at the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS) for keeping this simple truth front and center in their We Believe in Smiles™ campaign.
Launched in 2017, the We Believe in Smiles™ campaign was created to raise awareness about the importance of oral health by reminding consumers, doctors, regulators, government leaders and the general public about the magic of a healthy smile.
The campaign video showcases some of this “magic” through a montage of happy, smiling people, and the We Believe in Smiles™ photo archive now boasts more than 650 photos of beaming individuals.
The idea behind the campaign: “A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.” In one of their campaign updates, they go on to say: “Smiles know no borders or political parties. They don’t discriminate based on wealth or education. They are positive, uplifting reminders of what makes good health and friends priceless.”
About DOCS
The Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS) is committed to educating dentists on how to safely and effectively treat high-fear patients. Our membership in this national organization helps ensure that you, the patient, receive the very best care when it comes to our sedation dentistry services.
Founded in 1999 by two dentists, DOCS seeks “to provide a curriculum of coursework taught by a wide range of experts who’ve developed protocols based on studies in pharmacology, physiology and patient psychology. The coursework is offered throughout the year, at various centers across the United States and instructs dentists on the full spectrum of conscious sedation education.”
We’re pleased to participate in DOCS’ continuing education opportunities, and we invite you to learn more about them by visiting their website. We also want to wish our friends at DOCs the very best as they’re celebrating their organization’s 20th anniversary this year. Congrats to Kim, Coni and the rest of the team – and thanks for sharing the video with us!
