Greenville Center for Sedation Dentistry

Have you ever delayed or avoided visiting the dentist because of fear or anxiety? If so, you’re not alone. Stress and fear are among the top reasons people don’t always get the dental care they need or deserve. At Greenville Family Dentistry, we understand this common fear all too well. That’s because we have been practicing various types of sedation and painless dentistry for more than a decade.

Whether it’s IV sedation dentistry or nitrous oxide (laughing gas) sedation, we are pleased to provide safe, effective sedation dentistry options to our patients. Both services are designed to put your mind at ease, while delivering caring, compassionate and high-quality dental services. Not only do we leverage today’s latest dental technologies, we also stay current with sedation dentistry best practices, ensuring your experience with us is stress-free and state-of-the-art in every way.

Sedation Dentistry allows fearful patients to receive preventative and restorative dental treatments, these essential treatments lessen the chances of needing more extensive treatments in the future. Additionally, with sedation, we are able to get more dental work done in less time.

Cost of Treatment with Sedation Dentistry and Dental Insurance

The exact amount you pay for treatment will vary based on a number of factors, including your dental treatment plan, insurance coverage and other variables. We work with dental insurance companies and file insurance claims on your behalf. Most insurance plans do not offer full coverage, so we will estimate your expected payment for the remaining balance. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, cash, checks and payment plans from Care Credit. We do not accept Medicaid.

The term “sedation dentistry” means different things to different people. While some patients are looking for ways to alleviate their fear of the dentist, others are searching for painless dentistry options, where their primary concern is the potential for discomfort or pain during treatment. No matter where you fall on the spectrum, whether your dental anxiety is mild, moderate or severe, we have treatment options available for you.

IV Sedation Dentistry – With IV sedation, we are able to devote our full attention to making your smile beautiful, while a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) safely administers and monitors the sedation drugs. The result is a safe and completely pain-free dental experience. Learn more >

Nitrous Gas Sedation (commonly referred to as Laughing Gas) – Nitrous gas sedation is a safe, effective method of conscious sedation, where you breathe a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen prior to the procedure. The effect of the drug is reduced anxiety levels – without being “put under.” Learn more >

We understand that cost can be one of the biggest obstacles to pursuing dental treatment, so we will keep your costs as reasonable as possible. The actual dollar amount for sedation dentistry depends on the type of treatment you choose – IV sedation or nitrous gas sedation – and the length of your dental appointment. The good news is that some insurance carriers cover a portion of the anesthesia, and we can always look into potential coverage options for you. The other good news is that your anesthesia consultation is complimentary. We will review your medical history, discuss your concerns and recommend an approach that’s just right for you – all free-of-charge.
