Yes! We do impressions in our office for lots of things-nightguards, crowns, and dentures. We know that most people don’t like them, so we have a few things that we use to make our patients more comfortable.
First, we have a topical spray called Hurri-cane (banana flavored) that we can spray in the back of the mouth and throat that will numb the area and the prevent the gag reflex from being stimulated. We also have a few tricks we can try-putting salt on the tip of the tongue or asking patients to lift one leg-to distract patients.
